We hold these truths.....

One of my favorite phrases:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,

What is interesting to do is to think/speak the phrase numerous times, emphasizing the first word the first time, the second the second time, etc. and thinking about its meaning in each case.

WE hold these...
We HOLD these.....

This is a good technique to be used when establishing goals, mission statements, etc.
