We just heard from Ken McFarland that he secured a boat for a Galapagos trip in late February. We are going! Wow -- Tanzania last year and the Galapagos next year - this sure beats going to the zoo. Lucky we hadn't made plans to go to Guana Island yet as we had intended since this was one of our 2 out of 3 years so there is no conflict.

There'll be a bit of dancing and lots of fantastic nature.

Actually I've been to both Quito and Guayaquil 40 years ago. We went to Guayaquil to take the then running train from Guayaquil to Quito. It was a one car self propelled vehicle and it was pretty fascinating - starting out in the tropical jungle, ascending to about 12,000 ft and then ending up in Quito. While in Quito we went to a market day at Otavalo. And stopped on the way to set foot on the equator.

I don't know what else we'll do when we go this time.

Yes, most certainly there will be pictures. I always take a camera with me on such trips - and some short movies, too. And try to post some in my LJ. Did you see my africa stuff? http://jwg.livejournal.com/tag/africa2008

As a matter of fact, I did not! I think I added you after this, at FJ's recommendation. These photos are amazing, thank you.
