Otavalo Market

The Market in Otavalo is huge - some say it is the biggest in South America. It is held almost every day but Saturday is the biggest. A huge array of things - clothes, food, animals, trinkets, you-name-it. People from all over come to sell their wares. It is a great tourist attraction of course and well worth a visit. Otavalo is about 1 1/2 hurs drive from Quito.

I was here 51 years go. That time we went the night before and all night and early morning there were people streaming into town - sometimes sitting on top of packed busses.
