What we know
Feb. 2nd, 2008 04:49 pmI was reading an interesting article in the Jan 21 NewYorker about the intelligence community and its director Mike McConnell. The article is by Lawrence Wright and like many such NewYorker articles is an interesting read. I'd better read it again since I was reading it just before I went to sleep last night.
What particularly struck me as a piece of really useful advice to be used when talking or thinking about lots of things was something McConnell had learned when he worked for Colin Powell a bunch of years before.
Powell said:
Tell me what you know first, then what you don't know, and then what you think.
Following this approach would be a good remedy to the mish mosh of description and opinion about many subjects.
