I guess summer is officially over for us, alas. Yesterday we went up to Gloucester and turned off the water, drained the pipes, and put antifreeze in the traps. We brought back the remaining food and anything else that can't freeze. Each year I lug back and forth several boxes of house paints - many of which don't get touched from year to year although I did most of a big project on the enclosed porch - scraping paint, reputtying windows, and painting most of it. I started it kind of late, and our Greek Island trip at the end of September came at peak painting time for me.

Still lots of leaves and pine needles to rake, but we have to wait a while for more of them to fall.
