Wind, Sand and Stars
Jul. 25th, 2007 07:49 pmThere was no wind nor stars since it was daytime, but there was lots of sand. We went to Good Harbor Beach (Gloucester - a couple of miles away) which is a nice beach that sometimes gets surf. Today there was some pretty nice surf - not ferocious, and it was fun to swim in. The water wasn't too cold - this was our first time this year and I didn't even complain about it being too cold
Now back to Wind, Sand and Stars, a fine book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry that I haven't read in a while. It contains one of my favorite quotes that is so applicable to software designers (do you hear that Microsoft Word designers?).
"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
My boss used to write it on my whiteboard frequently. This accompanied my Question Authority bumper sticker that was also on the whiteboard - he wrote Why? underneath it.
